How to make perfume - Fragrances, like music, are created with notes. Perfume notes are broken down to three categories, top notes, heart notes and base notes. The first step in making perfume is to choose the notes you would like to include. The second step is to decide the concentration of each note in your fragrance. Remember, some notes are much stronger than others so you will have to adjust the concentration accordingly.

To do this you must break down the fragrance to parts. For example, to create a fragrance with freesia, orchid, plumeria, sandalwood and vanilla your formula could be:

3 - Freesia
3 - Orchid
2 - Plumeria
1 - Sandalwood
1 - Vanilla

Or you may choose to make the plumeria more concentrated and your formula would then change to:

3 - Plumeria
3 - Orchid
2 - Freesia
1 - Sandalwood
1 - Vanilla

And so on.
