Jean Desprez was born into dynasty of French perfumers, the great grandson of the founder of the renowned House of Millot, He apprenticed with some of the finest perfumers of the age, including the legendary Givaudan and Marius reboul of Charadan. In 1922, at age 24, he became the chief perfumer at Millot. Upon the death of his father Henri in 1936, Desprez founded his own firm in the 8th arrondissement of Paris at 17 Rue de la Paix
